Gee… Sort of reminds me of that Maxell ad where the sound is blasting the guy back in his chair… In this case, the TV20 card sort of pushes the dog out of the picture.
Actually, the video of Goober was shot around 1981-1982 – my son (now 27) was a baby at the time and used to sleep on his blanket in front oft TV 20 so he could watch Goobie.
Goober was my mother’s dog. They put him on a table next to the TV instead of in the big black chair because he faded into the chair and you couldn’t see him. Someone called out his name, he got startled, lost his balance and fell off the table. He wasn’t hurt but Jim Gabbert told my mom that they used that tape a lot because it generated so much interest, everyone called to see if that little dog was OK. Alas, poor Goobie passed away in 1993. He was a doll!
I almost forgot about these promos! I remember my neighbor’s cat used to come over to my house, come inside and stay for days. His owners wouldn’t even bother to look for him, until one day there was a knock at my door asking if I had seen him anywhere. The following week, the cat was at my door again — I sooo wanted to bring him to the station to do a spot … “We’ve got what you’re lookin for …” LOL
Every once in a while you see a car on the road that still has that I LOVE TV 20 bumpersticker with that distinctive logo, they were EVERYWHERE in the 80s and 90s. I would love to slap one of them on my car today!
That was sick. I remember watching these things all the time as a kid, but I don’t remember a dog eating it like that. They all should have featured animals falling instead of just looking at the TV.

I like how as Goober falls, you can see a shadow of someone coming to save it…
goober is actually a really cool name for a dog; i’ll remember it.
also, i laughed, long time.
ahahahahahaha I was looking for these old KOFY 20 station identifications with the dogs. I wasn’t expecting that.

“LOL” does not sufficiently describe the cackle I just let out.
Aww poor lil guy, what did they put on the table? Vaseline? LOL Glad he wasn’t hurt tho.

Great to hear from you! The owners of Goober!
