Why is my dog acting funny after getting a rabies vaccination?

yesterday, I took my two year old Pekingnese to get a Parvo and Rabies vaccination. She seemed fine initially, but now she isn’t acting like herself. She sleeps quite a bit, doesn’t seem interested in playing, and she won’t eat or drink water. She refuses to drink any water unless forced. What could be wrong?

She just isn’t feeling well because of the medicine they gave her. Let her rest, she’ll be alright.

    Doesn’t sound very funny.

Update your vets on this, they’ll probably tell you to watch her for one more day. If it continues past 48 hours they need to see her as she may be having too severe a reaction.

its normal. If the problems persist for more than a couple days call the vet. goodluck!

Whenever in doubt, call your vet :) If this has been going on for a day or so then I would call. . . however if it’s only been a few hours then I’d give it some more time.

Dogs can have a reaction to vaccine. it is not something vet will tell you. . . Killed rabies vaccine is usually safer for that matter. This is also the reason my breeder asked me not to take my puppy for rabies vaccine till he is reaching at least 5 mths old.
The other day, I bumped into an owner whose dog got paralyzed for three mths because of vaccine reaction.

For this reason, I will update the vet right away. The sleeping part I am not worried, but when a dog wont drink or eat, it’s not good.
